Turned on my friends and brought them pain. I have no right to show I can change. But I gotta try!

[attr="class","skullbody"] "Far worse, indeed. My poor chin is never going to be the same," Isaac joked, turning up the mock pain in his voice. His eyes were big and sad as he dramatically rubbed his chin.[break][break] It was funny. Perhaps if him and Aurelie compared notes, they'd realize that they were but two sides of the same coin. Aurelie dulled her expression to avoid others prying into her emotions. Isaac, on the other hand, leaned right into the absurdity. After all, if he treated any struggle or setback like a farce, what reason would anyone have to inquire further?[break][break] As Aurelie asked about Isaac's reasons for being here, he simply shrugged. "I was actually coming here in hopes of learning more about legendary Pokemon," he said. "The myths, the stories, the history. What they've done, and what they can do. How people see them. How they're revered and feared-" He cast a baleful glare at the ruined temple. Were revered and feared, at least. "But after what's happened here? I think I should pay my respects, too." Arceus knows poor Heatran probably needed as many of those as they could get his hands on.[break][break] At the mention of good work, Isaac smiled softly. "Thanks for yours, too. You've been good to this place," he said. The place still looked like a bit of a mess, but between Aurelie's protection, the Pokemon's cleaning, and now the lighting of the firepits, it was starting to come together once more.[break][break] With the sound of Pokeballs hitting the stone floor, a few new arrivals joined Isaac's side. A large, older Aggron helped set any toppled statues back into place, while an Alolan Dugtrio zipped across the room to rhythmically bounce logs back into the firepits. The final Pokemon, a Bisharp with a scarred eye, stood guard by the door to keep an eye out for any other troublemakers.[break][break] Their combined efforts helped finally put the room back together. Now it was Aurelie's time to shine, and shine she did. Each candle she lit cast another bit of light along the Heatran statue's metallic facets, the statue practically glowing by the time she was finished. The incense drowned out the smell of ash and cheap beer, and for a second this run down little temple felt like something truly beautiful. Isaac may not have been the spiritual type, but seeing a temple in full swing like this? Yeah. He could totally get it.[break][break] He copied Aurelie's motions to the best of his ability, Kiryu promptly copying his copying. The rest of his Pokemon either lacked the body type or the inclination, leaving just a man and his Aggron standing by the flickering flames. Was he supposed to say something? Or was he just supposed to think? He really wished he had the time to peep at some of this shrine's texts first.[break][break] Fuck it. "Heat treats the steel, right? Breaks it down, shapes it into something new, and then makes it stronger than it ever was before? Well . . . I brought lots of steel here with me. And you're never going to find better steel, anywhere. So, please. Lend them your strength. Help them become the Pokemon I know they can be. And help me, too, have the strength to do right by them. For all they've done for me, I want to make sure that I'll never, ever fail them. Is that okay? Oh, and, uh . . . go with Arceus and all that. I guess?"[break][break] Poor guy. At least he was trying!
